Virtual Doula Care
In 2020, Accompany Doula Care pivoted to telehealth to preserve continuity of care for our clients and keep both clients and doulas safe. Our hope is that what we learned through that transition informs the delivery of virtual doula care care and the systems that support it. Telehealth furthers our goal to center the families who need doula care the most and cannot stand to lose it at one of the most pivotal and potentially transformative moments in their lives.
This work was made possible by a grant in 2020 from the Maternal Telehealth Access Project (MTAP) spearheaded by the Maternal Health Learning and Innovation Center (MHLIC) through funding from the CARES Act.

VIDEO
Our client Ana Flavia, her doula Elaine, and Accompany doula Tareena discuss the power of doula care. Ana Flavia was thrilled when she learned she could have a doula covered by insurance, especially one who could speak Brazilian Portuguese. “No one teaches you how to be a parent,” says Ana Flavia. “That’s why you need a doula.”
